| Continuing
along the lines of its business presentation, Civilization
magazine asked us to design a special, corporate-financed section
listing various Internet links that had cultural affiliations. We
were asked to create two versions of the proposed section: a 4-page
insert with limited listings, and an expanded 8-page version with
each category having a separate page and more sites. The larger version
was also required to have a Web-like feel, so we incorporated
an icon system at the bottom of each page that indicated where they
were in the piece (the icons were derived from the image used for
each section). Since so much information was being presented, we felt
that it was important to incorporate as much white space as possible,
and decided to keep the layout simple and direct. With this in mind,
we used only one silhouetted image per section to epitomize what that
page was about and to further clarify the content to the reader. Colored
side bars were added to also help establish a section change. |
